A long-term maternity nurse or maternity nanny role supporting first-time parents with their 8-week-old baby in a relaxed, rural family home focused on gentle routines, emotional intelligence and collaborative care.
This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced maternity professional who enjoys working closely with hands-on parents, supporting older babies and becoming a valued part of a warm and collaborative family environment. A family based in the Oxfordshire countryside are seeking an experienced Maternity Nurse to support them with their 8-week-old son, initially on a trial basis with the potential to develop into a long-term position.
The family are looking for somebody whose approach aligns closely with their own values. They would love to find a calm, emotionally intelligent professional who communicates openly, works collaboratively and enjoys becoming a trusted part of the family team. Their little boy is thriving and gaining weight well, although he has experienced some colic. The parents are well supported medically and are looking for somebody who can bring reassurance, practical experience and a calm, solution-focused approach as they navigate the next stage with their baby. The successful candidate will need to be confident working alongside hands-on parents who value discussion, mutual respect and open communication. They are looking for somebody thoughtful, self-sufficient and adaptable who enjoys working collaboratively and can fit naturally into family life. The family describe themselves as relaxed, outdoorsy and family-oriented, they enjoy a natural lifestyle and are drawn to Montessori and Steiner-inspired approaches, encouraging children to learn through exploration, independence and outdoor experiences.
The role could be structured as either 24-hour support or a daily position for the right candidate, and there is genuine scope for the position to become permanent.
Job Specification
- Supporting the care and development of an 8-week-old baby
- Assisting with feeding, settling and age-appropriate routines
- Providing reassurance and practical guidance to first-time parents
- Supporting gentle sleep foundations and day-to-day structure
- Working collaboratively alongside hands-on parents
- Managing nursery duties related to the baby
- Supporting outings and family activities where appropriate
- Contributing positively to a calm and respectful household environment
Candidate Specification
- Experienced maternity nurse with older baby experience
- Excellent communication skills and emotional intelligence

- Warm, kind and thoughtful personality
- Appreciation of Montessori, Steiner or child-led approaches welcomed
- Driver preferred due to rural location
