Live-in or Live-out Travelling Housekeeper/Cook – Near Hurst, Berkshire
An exciting long-term opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housekeeper/Cook to join a warm and welcoming family with two children in their beautiful four-bedroom home near Hurst, Berkshire.
This is a varied and rewarding role for a proactive and organised candidate who enjoys managing a household, cooking for a family, and becoming part of a long-term household team. The family also have a friendly German Shepherd, so candidates must be comfortable around dogs.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home, providing excellent housekeeping standards and preparing fresh, healthy meals for the family. The role also offers the opportunity to travel with the family for approximately 1–2 months per year.
Duties will include:
Full housekeeping, cleaning, and household organisation
Laundry, washing, ironing, and wardrobe care
Preparing a light, fresh, and healthy lunch for the parents 2/3 x week when working from home
Planning, preparing, and serving the family evening meals – the principal is happy to teach a candidate, who is keen to learn, simple Italian dishes they enjoy
Grocery shopping and household provisioning (online and/or in person)
Assisting with occasional entertaining and informal dinner parties once or twice a month
Supporting with children’s organisation, including school kits and uniforms
Occasional and proxy parenting by prior arrangement (children are aged 11 and require supervision only) for a night or two at most due to work travel
Babysitting once a week during the week. On these evenings, the candidate will stay overnight in the guest bedroom within the main house if the principals are returning late.
Assisting with the family dog, including dog sitting if the family are away
Driving is essential and candidates must have their own car
Additional Information
The family enjoy light, healthy meals and particularly love Italian cuisine. The principal is happy to share favourite recipes and assist with menu planning.
School pick-ups and drop-offs will only be required on an occasional basis
Hours
Approximately 9:00/10:00am – 8:00pm
8 working hours per day
Monday to Friday
Flexibility required for occasional weekend support when needed
Approximately 40 hours per week
Accommodation
The family can offer a self-contained one-bedroom annex with a private entrance. No pets or partners.
Travel
The family travel regularly throughout the year and would like the successful candidate to accompany them. Travel is expected to total approximately 1–2 months annually and may include up t a month travel at a time.
The location to travel to would be Switzerland. Travelling to Italy would mean more travel than above but this is optional.
Salary: Depending on experience.
