A wonderful opportunity for an experienced Live in Housekeeper to join a warm and welcoming family in Kent. The family’s current Housekeeper is retiring after many years with them, and they are very sad to see her leave, which is a testament to the supportive and respectful working environment they offer. This role would suit a proactive and professional Housekeeper who enjoys becoming part of a family and taking pride in maintaining a well run home.
Job Summary:
A lovely family based in Kent are seeking a Live in Housekeeper to care for their 5 bedroom, 5 bathroom home arranged over two levels. The household consists of the principal, his 24 year old daughter who lives at home full time, his 20 year old daughter who is currently at university and returns home regularly as well as during university holidays, and his 17 year old son who lives at home full time.
The family also have three small dogs (two Maltese and a Chihuahua), so a genuine love of animals is essential.
The family are looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently, identifying what needs to be done without requiring constant direction. In addition to housekeeping responsibilities, the role will involve some assistance with their teenage son, including occasional school runs and collections, as well as caring for the family’s dogs. The family value a positive attitude, initiative, and a Housekeeper who can integrate naturally into family life whilst maintaining professionalism.
This is a long term position with a family who genuinely value their staff and foster a welcoming and respectful environment.
Job specification:
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the home
- Cleaning all main living areas, family bedroom and bathroom, and son’s bedroom and bathroom
- Cleaning the daughters’ bedrooms and bathrooms upon request
- Laundry and ironing
- Managing household laundry arrangements
- Monitoring groceries and fridge supplies to ensure the household is well stocked
- Liaising with tradespeople, handymen, and contractors as required
- Driving the family’s son to school on some mornings (not every day)
- Collecting the family’s son from school or the station when needed (not every day)
- Walking and caring for the family’s three small dogs
- Letting the dogs out during the day and overseeing their general wellbeing
- Dog sitting when the family are away, with additional weekends and holiday periods agreed in advance
- Preparing occasional meals for the family’s son
- Assisting with the smooth day-to-day running of the household
Candidate specification:
- Previous experience in a similar housekeeping role
- Driver essential with a full driving licence (automatic car provided)
- Confident working independently and using initiative
- Proactive and able to identify household needs without being prompted
- Comfortable working in a family home environment
- Pet friendly and happy caring for dogs
- Organised and efficient with excellent attention to detail
- Easy-going and personable temperament
- Professional, discreet, and trustworthy
- Strong communication skills
- Able to fit naturally into family life whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Reliable, flexible, and committed to a long-term position
