A gentle and supportive maternity nurse role helping first-time parents navigate the early weeks with confidence, compassion and practical newborn guidance.
This is a lovely opportunity for an experienced maternity nurse to support a first-time family as they welcome their baby and adjust to life as new parents. The family are looking for somebody calm, kind and knowledgeable who can offer practical advice, reassurance and guidance during the newborn stage. Mum is hoping for a natural birth and would like to breastfeed, whilst both parents would value support in establishing healthy feeding and sleeping habits from the beginning. Dad is keen to be actively involved in caring for his baby, and the family would appreciate somebody who enjoys teaching and empowering parents, sharing tips and guidance whilst allowing them to develop confidence in their own abilities. The family are navigating a particularly challenging time, so they are therefore looking for a maternity nurse who can bring warmth, emotional intelligence and a gentle presence to the home, helping to ease the transition into parenthood while ensuring everyone feels supported and cared for. Whilst the booking is initially for 3–4 weeks, the family are happy for the successful candidate to take time off over Christmas before returning to complete the remainder of the booking if required. This role will suit an experienced maternity nurse who is nurturing, organised and naturally reassuring, with a soft and supportive approach to family life.
Job Specification
- Providing 24-hour care for a newborn baby
- Supporting breastfeeding and newborn feeding choices
- Assisting with the establishment of healthy sleep and feeding routines
- Offering practical guidance and reassurance to first-time parents
- Encouraging both parents to build confidence in caring for their baby
- Managing all nursery duties related to the baby
- Supporting parental rest and recovery
Candidate Specification
- Experienced maternity nurse with excellent newborn knowledge
- Strong breastfeeding support experience
- Calm, gentle and emotionally intelligent approach
