Overview
Our client is looking for a dependable, personable and self-motivated permanent Domestic Couple to join the team at a stunning Georgian country house set in 30 acres near Fakenham, Norfolk.
The home belongs to a welcoming, down-to-earth family of five, with three children aged between 7 and 15. The atmosphere is lively and relaxed — far from formal — and the ideal couple will slot comfortably into the flow of a busy household, getting stuck in, showing initiative, and acting as a true pillar of support to the Principal, who is largely home-based.
Responsibilities will be split broadly across housekeeping and household management on one side, and driving, maintenance, and grounds on the other. Both candidates should be at ease around children, adaptable, and ready to take things in their stride. This is very much a long term position, and the family are hoping to find a couple who are ready to settle in and make this home their own.
Job duties
Responsibilities of the Permanent Domestic Couple in Norfolk include:
Housekeeper
- Full cleaning and upkeep of the house across 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms to a consistently high standard
- Laundry management including washing, ironing, and weekly bed changes throughout the property
- General housekeeping including hoovering, dusting, and day-to-day tidying
- Unpacking and organising Ocado deliveries
- Monitoring household supplies and stock, flagging replenishment needs
- Running errands as required
- Assisting with daily care of two whippets
- Supporting the Principal as a reliable right-hand presence in the day-to-day running of the home
- Helping to manage children’s routines and provide confident, friendly oversight when needed
House/Estate Management
- School runs and general family driving
- Management and upkeep of five vehicles
- General house and grounds maintenance
- Pool and tennis court maintenance and oversight
- Horsebox driving (preferred) and basic oversight of three ponies on site
- Working alongside the full-time gardener on estate support as needed
Candidates must be/have:
- Previous experience as a Domestic Couple in a busy private household or estate environment
- Warm, child-friendly, and comfortable working in a busy family home
- Confident with childcare/managing children
- Highly proactive with a strong work ethic and willingness to turn their hand to whatever is needed
- Discreet, reliable, and stable — this family is seeking a couple they can trust and build a long-term relationship with
- Comfortable with animals — dogs and ponies on site
- Full, clean driving licence (both candidates); horsebox driving an advantage
- Flexible and adaptable to the natural ebb and flow of a busy family property
- Exceptional references
Accommodation
A two-bedroom cottage will be provided on the estate.
Hours
Full-time. A degree of flexibility will be required.

Location
Near Fakenham, Norfolk.
Salary
Up to £90,000 (combined), depending on experience and prior earnings.
