Overview
Our client is seeking a capable, warm, and proactive temporary Domestic Couple for an immediate start at a beautiful Georgian country house set within approximately 30 acres near Fakenham, Norfolk, whilst a permanent couple is sourced.
The household is home to a friendly, informal family of five with three children ranging in age from 7 to 15. Life here is busy and relaxed rather than formal, and the right couple will fit naturally into the rhythm of a working family home, rolling their sleeves up, using their initiative, and becoming a genuine support to the Principal who is primarily based at home.
The couple will divide responsibilities broadly between housekeeping and household management and driving, maintenance, and grounds support with both expected to be child-friendly, flexible and highly proactive. There is potential for the role to become permanent, subject to it being the right fit for both parties.
Job duties
Responsibilities of the Temporary Domestic Couple in Norfolk include:
Housekeeper
- Full cleaning and upkeep of the house across 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms to a consistently high standard
- Laundry management including washing, ironing, and weekly bed changes throughout the property
- General housekeeping including hoovering, dusting, and day-to-day tidying
- Unpacking and organising Ocado deliveries
- Monitoring household supplies and stock, flagging replenishment needs
- Running errands as required
- Assisting with daily care of two whippets
- Supporting the Principal as a reliable right-hand presence in the day-to-day running of the home
- Helping to manage children’s routines and provide confident, friendly oversight when needed
House/Estate Management
- School runs and general family driving
- Management and upkeep of five vehicles
- General house and grounds maintenance
- Pool and tennis court maintenance and oversight
- Horseboxe driving (preferred) and basic oversight of three ponies on site
- Working alongside the full-time gardener on estate support as needed
Candidates must be/have:
- Previous experience as a Domestic Couple in a busy private household or estate environment
- Available for an immediate start
- Warm, child-friendly, and comfortable working in a busy family home
- Confident with childcare/managing children
- Highly proactive with a strong work ethic and willingness to turn their hand to whatever is needed
- Discreet, reliable, and stable — this family is seeking a couple they can trust immediately
- Comfortable with animals — dogs and ponies on site
- Full, clean driving licence (both candidates); horsebox driving an advantage
- Flexible and adaptable to the natural ebb and flow of a busy family property
- Exceptional references
Accommodation
A two bedroom cottage will be provided on the estate.
Hours
Full-time.
A degree of flexibility will be required. Further detail on working hours will be confirmed at interview stage.
Location
Near Fakenham, Norfolk. Live-in accommodation provided on the estate.
Salary
Up to £90,000 (combined).
Live-in position; accommodation provided.
