A collaborative maternity nurse role supporting thoughtful first-time parents with feeding, sleep and newborn care while helping them develop confidence and routines that suit their baby.
This is a wonderful opportunity for an experienced maternity nurse who enjoys working closely with engaged first-time parents, providing expert guidance while remaining flexible, intuitive and supportive of each family’s individual approach. A first-time family based in West London are seeking an experienced Maternity Nurse to support them following the arrival of their baby girl in October. The family’s ideal arrangement would be an initial 4-week booking of 6 days, 24-hour care, followed by a further 3–4 weeks of nightly support. However, their priority is securing the right maternity nurse for the initial 24-hour period. They are looking for an experienced professional who can help them navigate the early weeks, guide them through the many choices available and support them in finding an approach that works for both their baby and their family. Breastfeeding support will be particularly valued, alongside practical guidance around feeding patterns, sleep foundations and reading the baby’s cues. The family appreciate that every baby is different and are looking for somebody who can balance expert knowledge with flexibility, helping them work towards healthy routines that remain responsive to their daughter’s individual needs. The parents place great importance on teamwork and mutual support within the household. They would value somebody who naturally helps where needed, takes a collaborative approach and understands that the smooth running of family life often comes from small acts of consideration and initiative. Mum is originally from China and, whilst the family are not planning a traditional confinement period, they would welcome somebody who is culturally aware and respectful of Chinese traditions and perspectives surrounding the postnatal period. There are two cats in the home.
Job Specification
- Providing 24-hour care for a newborn baby girl
- Supporting breastfeeding and feeding choices

- Managing all nursery duties related to the baby

Candidate Specification
- Experienced maternity nurse with excellent newborn knowledge
- Strong breastfeeding support experience
- Calm, intuitive and emotionally intelligent
- Collaborative team player with a flexible approach
- Confident guiding first-time parents
- Able to read the room and adapt communication style accordingly
- Culturally aware and respectful of different family approaches
- Happy to work towards healthy feeding and sleep habits in a responsive way
